Things You Must Know When You Talk to God – Part 1

When you are making a phone call, it is not the equipment that matters, even though sometimes it can make a difference. It is the number that we use that will connect us with the person with whom we want to talk.

Talking with God is the same thing. People pray in different ways, such as: Screaming, singing, quietly, in other languages, standing, dancing, kneeling, with the eyes closed, with the eyes opened, or gesturing.

The key for the right communication is the right connection, in the case of the phone, the right number. Because I believe that you are a good person and I am a nice guy, I will give you the number for you to talk with God. Are you ready? Here it is: God’s phone number is: 537-87-6263 (Jesus’ Name).

In the Old Testament there is a very interesting text that has important lessons for us. Here it is: Jeremiah 29: 11-13 – For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”

In this text the prophet Jeremiah is telling the people what God has in mind for them and what they should know when they talk with Him. Jeremiah will help us to understand what God wants us to know when we pray to Him.

God is talking to a people who left Him for other gods. A rebellious people, but despite that He has a plan for them, and He is willing to listen to them if they call Him and seek Him with all their hearts.

Let me share with you what God wants us to know:

1 – He Exists – The first thing that God wants us to know when we talk with Him is that He exists. He is not an idea – He is a person. He is not weak – He is a powerful person. He is not limited – He is unlimited, He has no limitations whatsoever. He is not a religion or creation of man’s mind – He is the creator of the universe, and our creator. He is not just a deformed force – He has character, feelings, ideas, plans, etc. He is not distant or absent – He is everywhere, even close to us. He decided to manifest Himself to humansHe decided to communicate with humans through His Word and through His Son. He is real.

My friend, when we pray, we converse with God, because of that it is extremely important to know and be sure that there is a God, a good God. When we pray, we do not throw words in the air, we are communing with God Himself. We believe that He exists and we are talking with Him. This should affect and improve your prayer life.

Have a blessed week,

Pastor Lucas
