Give Thanks in All Circumstances – Part 2

Complain, complain, and complain. This has been the new normal nowadays. Nothing is good, everything is bad. We are not satisfied with anything. It seems that we are living in a dark time, and we do not have any reason to be happy or thankful.

In the middle of this grim situation, we are led to think that everything depends on us and our efforts.

The text that we are meditating on gives us a totally different attitude. Here is the text: 1 THESSALONIANS 5: 16-17 – [16] Be joyful always; [17] pray continually; [18] give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

In this text we learn important reasons why we should give thanks in all circumstances. Here are two more.

2 – EXPRESSES OUR FAITH

When I give thanks in all the circumstances in my life, I am showing that I believe in God. I am expressing my faith that He exists. I am saying that He is present with me not only during the good times, but also during the trials and tribulations of my life.

I am also stating that He is taking care of me during good times and bad times. Even when I don’t understand what is going on, I know that He is there with me.

And finally, I am expressing my faith that He will help me to walk through the valley of shadows.

I can thank Him in all circumstances because I believe that He knows everything. He knows how much I can handle. He knows my limits, and He will be there to support and strengthen me.

3 – LIBERATES OUR SOULS

Without the attitude of gratitude our souls are locked. We cannot see the light; everything is wrong, ugly and dark. Without gratitude our soul is in a prison. We complain all the time.

When we start to give thanks and recognize the presence of God in our lives; when we start to feel His power in our spirit and heart; then the chains that are tying our soul are broken.

After that we can fly to His arms and rest in the promises that He made. He promised that He would take care of us. He promised that He would be with us all the time. He promised that He would comfort us in all situations.

Then we won’t only give thanks to Him, but we also will praise Him, worship Him, and adore Him, because He is good and His love endures forever.

On this Thanksgiving Day begin to change your attitude toward the circumstances of your life.

I would like to suggest to you to find two reasons to give thanks for each complaint that you have. You will be amazed with so many things to be thankful for.

Have a blessed week,

Pastor Lucas
