The original “Wordless Book” and even the bracelets card is supposed to start with the Marbled/Swirled color. The yellow in this case would be the last one and would represent Heaven, our final destination. I have a slight disagreement with that notion. I prefer, not only for the Gospel presentation but also for my meditation to start with the golden color.
The reason is simple; the yellow does not only represent the Heaven, but the person who inhabit the Heaven – God. The yellow reminds me gold, the most precious metal, which symbolizes our God. So when I share the Gospel I always start with God, and I really believe that every time that we share the Good News we should begin with the origin of that news -God.
Therefore, when I look to the golden part of my bracelet I am remitted to the first sentence of our Lord’s Prayer: “This, then, is how you should pray: “‘Our Father in heaven, Matt. 6:9.” This helps me to understand that I serve a God who is above and beyond. He is not an equal. When He revealed Himself He was clear about that: “Acknowledge and take to heart this day that the LORD is God in heaven above and on the earth below. There is no other. Deuteronomy 4:39” He is not like us, He is great, sovereignty, and extremely powerful. But not only that, He is unique. There is no other God in heaven or on the earth.
The other thing that comes to my mind and heart when a see that yellow part of the bracelet is that this God who is great and extremely powerful, the creator of the whole universe, He also is tremendously gracious and merciful. The writer of the Hebrews letter put in this way: “Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. Hebrews 4:16” The writer invites us to approach the throne of grace, where we can receive mercy and find grace. Isn’t this wonderful? To know that there is a God who is powerful, but also who is approachable. You and me can open our mouths and say Father, and He will be right there with us.
Finally, there is one more thing that calls my attention when I gaze to that golden part of my bracelet: this God is everywhere. He is not limited by space and time. Our traditions sometimes do not help us to understand that very well. We are taught that there are special places where God manifests and reveals Himself, and if we want to meet Him and commune with Him we have to go there. That could not be further from the truth. Our God is not limited. This is how the King David describes this: “Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast. Psalm 139:7-10. The beautiful of this idea is not only that God is there watching us, but His right hand is there guiding me and holding me fast. What a wonderful thought.
So, when a look to my bracelet and see the yellow/golden part, I immediately turn my eyes to Heaven in a silent prayer recognizing that the great, merciful and wonderful God is right there with me, guiding a protecting me wherever I am. Think about that.
Have a blessed week,
